Living at Royal Palms
Royal Palms is the last condominium on the east end of Gulf Shores before Gulf State Park begins. Completed around 1999–2000, the 14-story concrete tower holds about 100 residences, and every unit faces the Gulf.
Floor plans are one- and two-bedroom homes, many with built-in hallway bunks that add sleeping space for families. Residents share indoor and outdoor pools, a hot tub, a steam room and sauna, a fitness center and a grilling area, plus gated security and covered parking. Vacation rentals are allowed, and the building has long been popular with investors.
Gulf State Park next door
With the park on its eastern side, Royal Palms has open, unbuilt views up the coast. Gulf State Park covers more than 6,000 acres, with 2.5 miles of beach, the 1,540-foot Gulf State Park Pier, freshwater Lake Shelby and The Lodge at Gulf State Park. The Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail adds about 28 miles of paths for walking and biking.
Around Gulf Shores
The tower is about a mile east of the Highway 59 intersection, where The Hangout, the public beach and downtown shops and restaurants are clustered.
