Living at Wind Drift
Wind Drift is a gated complex built in 1984 between the Gulf and Old River, just east of the Perdido Pass Bridge and next to the entrance to Ono Island. Its eight-story building has both Gulf-front and river-front condos.
Homes are two- and three-bedroom plans. Two-bedrooms run about 1,000 to 1,250 square feet and three-bedrooms about 1,240 to 1,450. Every unit has an oversized balcony with Gulf or river views, and many have been updated with granite counters, stainless appliances and luxury vinyl plank floors.
For boaters, Wind Drift has a lighted dock with a fish-cleaning station, a boat launch, first-come, first-served boat slips, a fishing pier and a boat and trailer storage lot on Old River. Residents also share Gulf-front and riverside pools, tennis, pickleball and shuffleboard courts, boardwalks with outdoor showers, grills, two elevators and on-site management. Dogs are allowed for owners.
Next to Ono Island
Wind Drift sits beside the guarded entrance to Ono Island, a private, gated 5.5-mile island with more than 1,100 homes between Old River and Bayou St. John. Old River connects to the Gulf through Perdido Pass, and Florida Point at Gulf State Park is about two minutes away by car.
